The IGEMSA Story

In October of 2023, a small group of leaders from across the US came together for a discussion on their EMS delivery model.  Specifically, the group was made up of government funded EMS providers that were independent of police and fire.  This particular delivery model has some uniqueness in operations, equipment and regionalization.  While there are many organizations representing other delivery models and individual practitioners,  we decided to start meeting informally.  In September of 2025, the group became official as a 501c3 organization and is now the Independent Government EMS Alliance (IGEMSA) The goal of the group is to focus on government leadership education, best practice both clinically and administratively, and to find efficiencies within this delivery model through coordination.
